I didn't want to risk unnecessary shots from the local bream at this distance, and I changed the fishing with pop up lures in this part to a slightly more selective presentation. The choice fell on one Champion Platinum B17 24 mm boilie ball with Reflex pop up Octopus.
I was convinced that the work of finding a new place had paid off already four hours later, when after a brutal fight in the water grasses, I managed to defeat a great deep scaler. My joy knew no bounds, and I was honestly happy for such a fish. The rest of the lake was silent, and even the fact that I managed to catch two great fish drove me forward. The assembly was in place again, and I was like a thorn in the side. The left rod sounded a total of three times during the day, but two bream and one carp of around six kg was not what I wanted to tackle completely flat and scare the area, where I sometimes saw the movement of quite nice fish.
So I decided on a second rod for a more selective bait. So I rigged the Boilie Sea 24mm plus Reflex pop up Pineapple N.B.A here. After losing three fish during the night from this particular rod, I was pretty pissed off. The patch for me was another scaly one, which I managed to successfully defeat from the reeds. However, that was the last contact with a carp for the next forty hours. Apparently, a rather strong and cold northerly wind was in charge, which leaned against the part where I was fishing in the shallower parts and cooled the water by about three degrees in a short time.
After a while the wind stopped and the following night I had a total of two fish. These were two medium-sized carp. I had before me the last whole day, night and morning, to try for some local veteran. I did not change the strategy and completely trusted the presentation of both baits and free feeding. I bet a lot on the lack of wind that prevailed since the morning and on the quite strong sunshine, which will definitely warm up the shallow parts again. An afternoon shot from a distant spot from a sandy plaza confirmed my thoughts. I calmly spelled some 250 meters behind the fish to find that it was caught in the bay between the algae and waiting for the next fight. It was very hard and lasted a good twenty minutes.
Actually, it was no surprise when I picked up the fish. An angry scaley over a meter long, just under twenty kilograms, was my last fish of the trip. In conclusion, I would like to mention how important it is to have the right partner on the water. Even though my colleague did not manage to convince a single fish to take a shot during the whole trip, he was always full of optimism with a good mood and was a great partner in taking pictures and filming the fish that I managed to catch. With this, I would like to definitely thank him and also mention that I will be happy to repay his willingness in November. I will definitely come back this year and try to convince one of the three giant carp that swim here. So, hello to autumn.
