On the path of attractiveness - Jan Prchlík

25-10-2022 - This year, at the turn of May and June, after quite a long time, I got to the water for five whole days. I think the last time I undertook such an expedition was in this period three years ago.

RAPID BOILIES

Most of my fishing trips are considerably shorter, within a few hours. If I can take two days off, I consider it a success. For this reason alone, I wanted to enjoy everything to the fullest and capture it regardless of the size of the fish. I bet on significantly catchier and more attractive things in the field of lures, which is not quite my habit.

I had planned to bet on a stagnant area, where I had already coaxed several nice fish in the very early start of this year. I decided to fish in a part where there was not a lot of pressure from anglers even though it was not exactly a place with an ideal depth for spring fishing. The depth here was more like six meters, but with a little effort I was able to reach a more acceptable depth of around two and a half meters with one rod. I had planned to catch mainly during the day using Extreme pellets with Krill flavor, which is one of the new products for this year from the Mivardi brand. As another option for bait, I had a few packs of Booster Boilies with Royal Plum flavor.

I had free feeding prepared in a combination of the aforementioned pellets, the Royal Plum boilie and a cheaper option, namely the squid boilie. I wanted to decide the quantity depending on the response from the carp. I did not overdo the initial feeding and was more interested in whether the carp would show up in my area in the early evening and early morning. I fed such an area of about thirty by ten meters, which was located at a depth of five to six meters. I got by with a couple of kilos of bait mix. There I placed one rod where I used one 20 mm Krill pellet as bait. I tried to catch the second rod on a very steep slope around the reed field and as bait under the hook I bet on two boosted boilies Royal Plum. Here I was able to reach an acceptable spring depth of around two meters. I had quite a lot of time, and I was curious if the carp would make themselves known by some movement on the surface or some feeding activity. Nothing major happened during the first day. I watched the surface, and especially the area of the feeding place, where every now and then a bubble appeared after a few hours. That was a good sign. Although I didn't notice any activity in terms of carp snapping or jumping, the occasional bubbles made it clear that something was going on under the surface, and especially near the bottom when feeding. The first person who was interested in the bait presented at greater depth was a bream of a very solid size. Of course, I was not completely happy with this fish, but on the other hand, I thought that any activity at the feeding place is good. So I shot a few pellets and a few pieces of boilie and believed in a shot from the target fish, i.e. a carp. Luck smiled on me sometime around 11:30 in the evening and the first target fish I caught was a beautiful linefish that took one krill pellet right from the feeding place. I was very happy with the fish, just because you don't catch such a carp every day. By the end of the day's hunting time, I didn't manage to get another shot. For the night, I decided to feed the place with a few kilos of pellets and a little boilie, as I suspected that there were fish in the area.

I always try, if I know that I have to feed the fish in the spot some bait for the night, so that the carp can feed undisturbed and that they don't leave my spot. If I evaluate the situation correctly, I usually manage to catch several fish in quick succession during the morning precisely because of the night feed. I will do the morning cast with only PVA and no free feeding. Not infrequently I manage to get a shot within five minutes of pitching. I managed to do that this time as well, and two nice foxes took turns on the mat in quick succession. The shots were coming from a greater depth and I was wondering if the rod I was fishing in the coastal part would be a good choice. On the other hand, a better fish could take it in that calm, so the decision to leave it there for a while longer was appropriate.
